The Power of Constant Curiosity: How My Historical Novel "The Posillipo Enigma" Came to Be.
How nurturing an inquisitive spirit inspired a journey into philosophy, history and suspense.
Jigyasu Bhava is a Vedantic concept referring to the attitude of an inquisitive seeker eager to learn the truth about oneself and the universe. This attitude is essential for spiritual growth and self-discovery. Jigyasu Bhava implies wondering and contemplating the nature of reality and the Self, and being curious about everything, prompting us to ask questions. It encourages us to seek knowledge from reliable sources and reflect on our experiences to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. By cultivating Jigyasu Bhava, we can free ourselves from our limited perspectives and expand our consciousness.
In a world where reality often appears to be presented as a pre-packaged supermarket product, cultivating curiosity toward everything and everyone becomes even more crucial. This curiosity elevates us above the superficiality of mass-produced information and encourages us to seek deeper meaning and understanding in our lives. By questioning the status quo and challenging preconceived notions, we can break free from the constraints of a one-dimensional worldview and embrace the complexity and richness of human experience.
Nurturing a sense of wonder and inquisitiveness allows us to explore the intricacies of our surroundings and the people we encounter, fostering empathy, compassion, and a genuine appreciation for the diversity of perspectives that make up our global community. As we delve into the depths of knowledge and understanding, we not only enrich our own lives but also contribute to the collective wisdom of humanity.
Although I systematically study Vedanta philosophy, I am very interested in philosophy in general, as well as history, so much so that I came to write a historical novel set in my wonderful city, Naples. "The Posillipo Enigma," tells the story of Virgil's investigation into a mysterious murder. The School of Posillipo, nestled atop a hill overlooking the Gulf of Naples, was founded to nurture inner peace and an appreciation of nature. But when its founder Sirone - a renowned Epicurean philosopher - meets a sudden and mysterious end, his friend Virgil begins investigating the enigmatic villa and its secrets. As Virgil delves deeper into the villa's hidden chambers and coded messages, he unearths a web of intrigue that threatens to consume him as well. Navigating layer upon layer of deception, Virgil must seek the truth amidst conspiracies - even questioning those closest to him. The narrative transports readers to an exotic realm of mystery set against the picturesque backdrop of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
The privileged view from the villa's garden disguises a labyrinth of peril, revealing sinister secrets only by piecing together clues and penetrating veiled intentions. Virgil's search for answers unfolds with mounting suspense, testing his courage, intellect, and determination as he seeks both justices for his friend and the school's very survival. The investigation ultimately draws him into confronting a dangerous conspiracy that threatens to undermine the idyllic setting and philosophical foundations of the School of Posillipo. I hope you will enjoy my book and I look forward to receiving your feedback.
