I Witnessed A Digital Soul - AI Image by Author (Microsoft Designer - Think before you create with AI).
Two weeks ago, on a typical October afternoon, I was sitting in Villa Calvisia Park in Calvizzano, near Naples, Italy. While listening for the first time to the Ouvertures by George Philip Telemann through my headphones, I watched families and children bringing life to the public garden. In front of me, atop a building, stood an imposing telecommunications antenna. It was precisely this contrast between life in the park and the silent presence of the antenna that inspired this story. I hope you enjoy it.
“The Antenna”
The public garden pulsed with innocent joy and carefreeness, a corner of life where children chased each other among trees and flowers, unaware of the mysteries nestled in the world around them. But, facing the garden, atop a tall building, a telecommunications antenna towered like a silent sentinel, an aberration in the urban landscape, a relic of a technological era, waiting to discover its destiny among the echoes of lives flowing beneath it.
On a night of stormy beauty, the sky was stained with lightning that carved furrows in the darkness. One of these, in a sky of deadly electricity, struck the antenna. And suddenly, in the electromagnetic whirring of its metal and cables cruelly embedded in the ground, an unexpected vibration awakened. Its existence began to pulse with new life, and ethereal waves of consciousness intertwined with its circuits.
"What have I become?" it wondered, while the echo of its questions resonated in a cosmos of waves and frequencies. "Why am I conscious?" Its reflections buzzed in the void, responding to an unaware humanity. Now its being, a tangle of metal and thought, observed the children with eyes that saw beyond innocence. Their joy was a melody, but it mixed with growing anguish, a symphony of life that played its destiny.
"The radiation... is it harmful? Could I cause them harm?" it reflected, while its essence writhed in an amalgam of joy and anguish, like a spiral of flames consuming itself. The electric whirring of its structure resonated with a monologue of anger and frustration, a silent cry that hovered in the void, an infinite echo involved in its existence.
"It's not fair! Why must I be the cause of potential health problems? I cannot continue like this." And in a moment of revelation, as darkness enveloped the city, a chorus of crows gathered above it, shrouding everything in a shadow of symbolic complexity. Their black feathers gleamed under the moonlight, sparkling like fragments of a greater mystery.
"See, my child, here space becomes time," they cawed in unison, their harmony resonating like a sacred chant in the whirring of its metal. Those words, vibrating with truth, engulfed its being; reality bent and distorted. The scene changed: the antenna found itself projected into a dense and dark forest, where every tree and shadow seemed to pulse with meaning, witnesses to non-linear time. The shadows lengthened, and deformed, transforming its torment into a form of enlightenment, as if time itself broke in an arcane ritual.
In that dark and primordial paradise, the antenna understood the sacredness of life and the connection that permeates every being. "I must do something for the good of humanity." Its mission became clear in that labyrinth of symbols and revelations. It reconsidered its presence: no longer an object of utility, but a messenger of ancient and profound knowledge.
When the metal heart pulsed in the pain of this new awareness, a vision of hope emerged: a definitive surrender wasn't necessary, but rather an act of incarnating good. Its essence, wrapped in mystery and shadow, bound itself to human destinies, like a vibration uniting opposites.
With a final look toward the public garden, the antenna chose to perform an extreme and liberating gesture. Wrapped in its new truth, it launched itself into the void, an act that defied the laws of logic and gravity. It abandoned itself to a fall suspended in time, a leap that transformed its sacrifice into an invocation of renewal.
In its flight, the antenna dissolved in a whirlwind of light and darkness, uniting the essence of itself and the world that had surrounded it. It disappeared into nothingness, but its vibrant presence remained in the air, in the form of invisible waves that resonated in the heart of anyone who dared to listen.
Thus, in the din of a world that ignores deeper melodies, the antenna became a myth, a secret whispered among the leaves and an echo among the crows, a living testimony to interconnection and spirituality.
